• If a patient indicates acute distress or crisis: The engine instantly elevates 24/7 emergency resources—such as 988, local Psychiatric Emergency Screening Services (PESS), or the Veterans Crisis Line—front and center.

• Standard outpatient waitlists are bypassed so the patient gets immediate safety support.

Step 2: Removing Impossible Options (Hard Gating)

The system automatically screens out resources that simply won’t work for the patient so they never experience another rejection.

• Age Gating: An adult won’t be shown youth-only programs like PerformCare, and adolescents won’t be routed to adult-only outpatient clinics.

• Coverage Protection: Uninsured patients are only routed to safety-net options (like Federally Qualified Health Centers or sliding-scale providers), preventing financial dead-ends.

Step 3: Hyper-Local & Need-Based Scoring

In public health, transportation and cost are the two biggest reasons patients miss initial appointments. Our engine calculates a point score for remaining facilities based on three core clinical factors:

Why We Limit Dashboard Results to the “Top 3”

When patients log into their SafeBridge dashboard, they are presented with only their top 3 highest-scoring care options (with a simple option to view 2 more if desired).
